Rui Shi

My role in the NSF project mainly focuses on characterization of PAL gene family. This work starts from transgene construct preparation, transgenic tree production, followed by systemic analysis of transgenic trees at different levels, including transcript, protein, enzymatic, metabolic, wood chemistry, etc. I also in charge of designing and preparing of all artificial micorRNA constructs for individual gene knockdown in this project, and qRT-PCR analysis of target genes in transgenic trees. In addition to these bench works, I work with IT team on data analysis, building and management of systems database for the project.
