Host-pathogen gene expression correlation clusters
As part of a larger project, an Affymetrix expression array was developed for the fungal pathogen Aspergillus flavus. Probes were also included on the array for approximately 6000 corn genes. As part of the larger project, gene expression data was collected for >100 samples of infected and uninfected corn kernels and of A. flavus grown on medium. Using a subset of these samples, we identified expression correlation clusters involving both A. flavus and corn genes:
The genes from both species in this cluster showed high expression in actively infected samples, but low expression in uninfected corn and in A. flavus grown on medium.
